About Us
For the past 10+ years, Dr. Lorraine D. Powers has worked as an educational consultant, specializing in assisting high school seniors with their college application packages. Her expertise includes guiding students through college applications, developing essays for the Common App and individual colleges, identifying best-fit schools, brainstorming essay topics, and crafting strong resumes. Dr. Powers has successfully helped students gain admission to prestigious institutions such as UNC, NCSU, ASU, UNCW, UNCC, ECU, WCU, UNCA, UNCG, Duke, Dartmouth, Purdue, Cornell, VT, PSU, Elon, WF, UVA, USC, Clemson, CofC, Baylor, CU Boulder, UMD, UGA, GT, and HPU, among others.
I am an experienced educational consultant with a strong background in teaching and academic support. Over the years, I have worked as a substitute teacher at Raleigh Charter High School in Math, Science, History, and English. I have been a teaching assistant for more than 21 courses in mathematics, engineering, and business, and a proctor for AP exams. Outside of consulting, I currently serve as both an engineer for the Department of Defense and an adjunct faculty member at Duke University, working as a Mentor-Couch for graduate-level engineering management and business professionals.
For students interested in building competitive college applications, regardless of their background, I offer uniquely-tailored services to help the students' individuality shine. For students interested in resume building projects, I am well suited for students interested in STEM projects (particularly math and tech), creative writing, education, and social welfare.
